Herefordshire fishing
RIVER WYE
The Wye rises in mid-Wales and flows largely south-eastwards for some 155 miles, for a large part along the English and Welsh border, until the UK’s fourth longest river joins the Severn estuary.
Well-known for salmon in its lower reaches, upriver of Hereford the fishing is more of a mixed nature noted for barbel, chub, grayling and trout.
RIVER WYE WITH JOHN BAILEY since 2023For the winter John has access to one of the finest grayling stretches on the River Wye. The section is equally suited for fishing on the fly or trotting as you prefer. John will be equally happy whichever you choose, or maybe a bit of both if conditions allow. John believes very strongly in breaking down divisions in angling. He loves his game fishing but believes barbel caught in an active, tactile fashion are as worthy an opponent as you’ll find in the UK. These are fascinating, fun filled days out in the glorious Wye valley and if barbel have never crossed your angling radar before, perhaps this is the time to reconsider. And for you Gone Fishing fans, you’ll even fish a swim or two where the Fab Two have fished during various episodes!
