Children and Family

Nether Wallop Mill, beside the burbling Wallop Brook and a gin clear lake that absolutely teems with trout, is a truly wonderful place to start fly fishing. You will be taught by one of our patient and helpful instructors, with exclusive use of The Mill and the instructor. We break up the day to make it interesting; casting tuition, tackle tips, pond dipping, fly tying and of course plenty of fish catching! It is not a rigid schedule, so we adapt along the way. Our simple aim is to make the day fun, informative and fire the enthusiasm for many future fishing trips in the years to come.

The facilities are second to none with a beautiful thatched oak fishing cabin on the water’s edge with a kitchen, lounge with a log burner, dining veranda, WC and outside BBQ area. Non fishing family members are welcome to attend the day.

We don’t have a strict minimum age as such but as general rule I have found that children from around eight years and upwards get the best from these days. Nether Wallop Mill is open April to October on week days, weekends and Bank Holidays.

Adult & Child Day

This is for everyone! Mother and daughter, father and daughter, grandparent and … well, any adult and child combination you wish. This is a wonderful way to share the magic of fly fishing and capture that first ever trout.

Family Day

A fishing day is a great way of getting the family together to share the excitement of a new sport in the young and re-ignite the passion in others.

Kids Summer Fish Camp 2025

Run over three days in the summer holidays this is the perfect way to immerse your child into fly fishing. There is everything from learning (or relearning) the basics, right up to a day on the River Test for the older group and cooking the catch.

Our fish camps are an extensive and thorough introduction to fly fishing. It is very hands on, the emphasis being in the outdoors not the classroom. Here is a list of some, but not all, the things that will be covered:

One Day Half Term Kids Camp

Run over half term, this is great day of fly fishing, bite-size ecology and most importantly, catching fish!
