Travel By Train & Bike
Sometimes travelling by train is the smart thing to do; it is certainly a relaxing way to start any fishing trip. Most of our rivers are suitable for arrival by train then take a taxi or use your bike for the final leg.
However, if you prefer a short walk to the river then Barton Court (Kennet) is, at 100 yards, a dream with The Dundas Arms on the doorstep to stay, eat or drink. Shawford Park (Itchen) is just quarter of a mile with Island Farms (Test), School Farm (Dun) and Whitchurch Fulling Mill (Test) all about a mile.
For a full list of train station distances from all our beats click on this link and the Station column on the far right. Train times from London are in the region of 1-2 hours. Most main stations, including Andover, Newbury & Winchester, have a well-manned taxi rank.
