Chalk stream Fishing
River Wye
The River Wye is one of six chalkstreams in Buckinghamshire which are fed by the winter rain that fills the aquifers the springs emerging from beneath the Chiltern Hills to the northwest.
The river rises not far from West Wycombe, which takes its name from the river, flowing for 9 miles until it joins the River Thames at Bourne End. Being relatively close to the source ensures the water is exceptionally clear, even by chalkstream standards.
WEST WYCOMBE PARK since 2022
Set in the parkland of West Wycombe House, famous as the location for films such as Pride and Prejudice and TV series The Crown, this is an amazing place to fish in unique surroundings. The two thirds of a mile of the River Wye, which snakes through the grounds feeds the 9 acre lake with both stocked with rainbow and brown trout, which average somewhere between 2-3lbs. This is an all catch and release fishery. The combined ticket allows you to fish the lake and river at will, including the use of a boat at no extra charge. Day Rods are available every Tuesday and Friday, with other days available on request. In addition, the Island Music Temple in the middle of the lake is part of an amazing fishing and entertainment party package, with fishing, food, drink and expert help all included.
